NYC trip report
I returned home yesterday from a 4 day weekend in NYC. Took cab from LGA into($32) return($25). We stayed at the Marriott Marquis because that is where our meeting was. I MUCH prefer to stay away from the Times Square area and in smaller hotels, so I would not stay at this hotel again. The elevators are ridiculas, we waited up to 15 minutes for an elevator! The rooms are a good size, the beds comfortable.
We saw Thoroughly Modern Millie (1st row mezz-great seats) loved the show. We also saw Proof (row L orchc-also good seats) I was not too impressed with the acting.
Ate at Chez Josephine (highly recommend); A Dish of Salt(also recommend); Carnegies (don't bother), Cafe Botanica (recommend), and brunch at Takishminas (highly recommend). Lots of tourists in The City. Did "The Walk" from The Met.- Central Park to Empire State and Staten Island Ferry. Weather did not cooperate, so also did some shopping. Had a great time. Thanks to all who gave me advice about this trip. A.M.

Hi A.M.!
Glad it was a good weekend for you.
Great report, Chez Josephine is wonderful, isn't it~
Hi Kate, Chez Josephine was a great recommendation. The owner sat with us awhile (as I am sure he does with many patrons) and treated us to complimentary desserts. How nice, eh?
ps: I told him I got the recommendation from this message board. A.M.

Coool~
we are going there next weekend! What did you have:) obsessing over food right now~Kate
Thanks to Howard and all of your recommendations, I called Ce Josephine this evening and made reservations next month.

I too am curious as to what you ordered. Any "must haves"?
|
I'm delighted that all of have discovered my favorite restaurant! (Of course, the down side is that it'll be harder to get reservations!)
To AM, you are indeed fortunate to have had the personal experience with Jean-Claude, the owner/maitre d'. He's a vital to the total experience as is the menu!
And, Nina, in answer to your question, everything on the menu is recommended. Seriously! One of my particular favorites there are its soups, which are one of its specialties.

Does Chez Josephine have a website? - I would love some more info on it as it always seems to get rave reviews by fellow fodorites.
|
Though Chez Josephine doesn't have a website to the best of my knowledge, check out this one:
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/rr/8_4_99.html
It offers a review of the restaurant, along with one for Le Madeleine, another excellent French bistro a block from Chez Josephine.
|
Does anyone know the address of Chez Josephine WITH ZIP, I would like to send a thank you for the dessert and great time we had.
Thanks,
A.M.

A.M., that's very thoughtful of, and I know Jean-Claude will appreciate (and probably show your letter around!). By the way, in case you don't know, his last name is Baker, naturally!

...naturally indeed. A.M.
