NYC trip--help with luggage

We're traveling to NYC in June and renting an apartment for a week. Our in-coming and out-going flights don't coordinate well with our check-in and check-out times (but there's nothing we can do about that). So, I need some tips from y'all. If we're unable to check in and out early and late, are there any places to store luggage for a few hours in NYC? I wonder if any hotels might provide a service like this, for a cost, if you're not actually staying with them? Or, are there any other places in the city that would provide such a service? I'd appreciate any suggestions you can give, and FYI--we'll probably have two suitcases and another bag. Thank you!

Sometime during the week, go to a nearby hotel and make arrangements ahead of time for luggage storage.

As long as you tip well and pay a fee, I can't imagine why there would be a problem unless the hotel has an overload on luggage storage that day.

If the apartment you are renting has a doorman, he may be able to store your bags.

I would try the doorman first. Since 9/11 a lot of hotels have gotten much more careful about luggage not attached to a guest.

Thanks to those of you who have replied! I think that our building does not have doorman--too bad, huh? The owner will apparently meet us when we check in. I'm hoping we'll get lucky and the owner will allow us to at least drop off our bags, even if we can't actually stay there at that time. I'm just trying to come up with an alternative if we are not allowed to drop off the bags early and leave them late on check-out day. We'll be sure to talk to some hotels if we need a place on our last day. Thanks again for the help.

Hello again. Does anyone else have any suggestions for my "luggage" problem? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

DId you ask the owner what options would be available to you? This shouldn't be a first time ever situation for a vacationer renting this apartment.

Failing renting the apartment a day earlier, or changing your flight times, perhaps there are storage lockers at the airport?

I'll be interested in what other responses you receive.

Pack light and make sure your luggage wheels work? ;-)

The obvious answer is to check with the owner/agent of the apt you're renting. I'm sure this problem occurs regularly and they should have a solution. If not....where is the apt?

We will check with the owner about this and hope that he/she will allow us to at least drop off the luggage early (and hopefully, keep it there late on check-out day). As I mentioned before, I just wanted another plan, in case the owner would not be able to help us out. My husband and I are BIG pre-planners, so I was just coming up with some possible options. We're not changing our flight times b/c we have gotten direct flights coming and going and that's too good to pass up. Our airport is small, so we don't have a lot of direct-flight options. I guess you could call me a worry-wart! Thanks again.
