NYC to Ithaca
 

I have to go to Ithaca in late July. I do not own a car. To rent a car for the five days I'll be gone is around $400 plus gas and tolls. To purchase a ticket is around $600! Friends and family meeting me there are flying into Ithaca for under $300 from Raleigh and Atlanta. Why the price difference?

Would you consider going by Greyhound? The return fare is about $100. ((*))

Looks like you can fly roundtrip from JFK to Syracuse on Jet Blue for less than $200.

Syracuse is 60 miles from Ithaca, so you'd probably have to take a Greyhound from one to the other.

I see cars from Thrifty ( 148 West 83rd Street) for $250/week
