NYC Shopping Upper West Side, Which Streets?

Last time I was able to shop on the Upper West Side I had a very limited amount of time and specifically wanted to hit Zabar's & Fishs Eddy. In addition to that we were only able to fit in a few smaller shops on our way to dinner on 73rd. This trip however, we have an entire afternoon just to walk, shop, eat, etc. Am I correct in assuming that the area we want to cover is Columbus & Broadway from the west 60s to the 80's? The types of stores we enjoy are home decor, books/stationery, food, unusual art or crafts, maybe clothing (not a big must). Can someone steer me in the right direction if I'm off base? Thanks!

You have it covered. For food, it's Broadway anchored by Zabar's about 80th Street south past Citarella to Fairway at Broadway and 74th Street.

Add Amsterdam (the avenue between Columbus and Broadway) to the mix.

Though there seem to be more restaurants and bars than other businesses. there are a few cute stores there.
A new gift/home decor/accessories shop called Roam recently opened (Amsterdam around 83rd or 84th on the west side of the street)and if you love handblown glass and dishes, you must see the store Avventura (spelling?) on Amsterdam and 82nd ish (on the east side of the street). Amazing, but high end stuff (closed Saturdays, by the way, if that's when you'll be in the area)

While you are up at Zabar's, why not walk three blocks more and pop into Harry's shoe store on 83rd and Broadway? It has lots of fans, especially for those who like the more comfortable European brands.

These are great suggestions - thanks! Also thank you for confirming my "shopping streets". If anyone else has any comments, please feel free to add them.

there's a barney's coop store on broadway that i'm sure you won't miss. upper 70s lower 80s, not exactly sure. it's 2151 Broadway to be exact.
