NYC Restaurants: Upper East, Village, Other
Looking for good restaurants (ethnic, American, French, India, African etc) for a weekend visit. Do not mind 30-45 minute wait but not much more than that. Good atmosphere and casual dining. Lunch or evening meal. Any ideas??????????

Just got back last Sunday from NYC. For a great Italian place in the village, try Monty's. Stay away from Comedy Nation downtown. The steak was still mooing and the chicken had to be sent back. Anywhere in Chinatown for good chinese food. Have fun!!

So many restaurants, so little time! A nice French place on the upper east side is Trois Jean(79th between Lexington & 3rd)- it's popular with chefs from other restaurants. Le Zoo(11th & Greenwich St) is a great village hot spot. For something cheap- try one of the Mee Noodle Shops- I like the one on 2nd at 49th but there are several. Le Gamin(MacDougal between Houston & Prince) is a tiny French cafe that is good for lunch. There are an infinite number of great places depending upon your budget and desires.

Hmmm, so much to choose from. Try Caravan (Afghanistan) on 8th Avenue around 46th Street, 6th Street on the East side for a vast array of inexpensive Indian restaurants, a nice French restaurant/bistro I just went to was Le Expresss on Park Avenue South at 20th Street. Enjoy!

Time was good a few years ago. A few good lunch spots on the upper east side. Some small place on the corner in soho near Manhatten Brewery (may not be there any more.
