NYC Restaurant for Party
Fellow fodorites, I'm looking for suggestions for a good restaurant to have an office holiday dinner for about 12 people. We've gone to places like Churrascaria plataforma and other steakhouses in the past, but are looking for something else this year for the non-meat eaters. Any suggestions for a nice, good, fun place for a large group (other than places like Carmines, Tony's etc.).
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yeah, good point, that's what I get for rushing a post on right before the holiday. Location not an issue, and expensive is ok. We tried to get into Gotham Bar & Grill, but they don't take groups over 10. Probably won't do anything insanely expensive like Jean Georges, but upper price range is fine.
thanks.
thanks.

We had a group of about that size do a dinner at La Mangeoire 1008 2nd Ave (between 53rd & 54th Sts) www.lamangeoire.com It is very pretty, the food was very good, and there are always several non-meat options. It's Provencal French...not fussy or over-sauced.

You could try Asia de Cuba. They have a long table in the center of the restaurant that could accommodate that many people. Food is pretty good and it family style so it's good for sharing and trying a lot of different things.

The Harrison in Tribeca (355 greenwich) has a wonderful private room downstairs - and I think takes big groups in the main room. Food is terrific, too.
Trattoria dell'Arte on 7th Avenue @ 57th St. has a private wine room that seats 14. or try Beacon on 56th St. & 5th.
All of these are pretty upscale and would run a minimum of $50 per person, I think.

I was going to suggest Trattoria Dell"Arte too. I attended a private party there & it was fun. Lots of choices for non-meat eaters (their antipasto selections are great). At the high end, The Four Seasons rest. has private rooms. You might also try L'Impero near Tudor City-new Italian getting rave reviews & their website says they do private parties.

Remi has a private room and the food is delicious.
Cote Basque has a private upstairs dining room and they can set up a private bar, etc.
I just attended a dinner for about 25 at Brasserie 8 1/2. They have a private room (behind the bar). The food and service were both great.
I think Tribeca Grill also does private parties.
