NYC restaurant before Broadway show
Tickets to see Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden theater on June 10th. Looking for a cozy, but not necessarily fancy, restaurant, for dinner before the show. Budget - def. under $100 for two people (myself + hubby - joint birthday celebration) Suggestions?

Our fav is DaRosina - great little Italian Restaurant in the theatre district on "Restaurant Row" was there about 8 or 9 months ago and a 3 course pre-theater dinner was I think $22.99 and the food is excellant !! Good wines too and really cute place.

there are many, many threads here about this. Do a search on "pre-theater dinner" and a bunch will come up. Here's a recent one:

I did do a search, but was a little overwhelmed. Most of the responses requested specific info, which is kind of what prompted me to do my own post. I was hoping for some personalized recommendations based on budget and location of theater. Th budget would need to be all inclusive -drinks, tips, tax. I'm a little disappointed with how few responses I rec'd. Seems like other posts got tons of responses. Italian or American are both fine. Also, what time would you suggest for dinner for an 8.00 p.m show

Make a 6pm reservation if it's close to the theater, and mention that you have theater tickets when you make the reservation and when you arrive.
I like the prix fixe at Dervish Turkish. Cascina and Basilica have decent Italian. Basilica has a very good prix fixe, incuding a house wine, but it's very small so reservation is necessary. Joe Allen's is also good for American.

Right up the street on Seventh Avenue around between 56th and 57th Streets I highly recommend Trattoria Dell'Arte. Excellent anti pasta bar and Italian Restaurant.
