NYC Quiet Hotel/B&B
As my daughter is moving to NYC end of August, I am looking for an "affordable", quiet bed and breakfast or hotel near or in the East Village where she will be living. I am looking for a safe, quiet and clean place. Thank you so much.

Can you please define "affordable"? B&B's & hotels in NYC are very expensive. If you tell us a $ amount I am sure you'll get lots of replies. Your daughter will love NYC. My son and his wife live in the Murry Hill area. Sandy |
New York is not a B&B City, so there are limited choices. Check Friday's NY Times they listed a few about town.
I live in the East Village and there are few places that she can check out, since we are unfamilair with the interiors. There is Hojo on Hosuton. On 2nd between 13th and 14th on the west side of the sreet above a bar is a small hotel. On 14th street betwen 2nd and 3rd is the Union Squsre Hotel, where I see European tourists. 14th off 2nd is Jazz on the town which has dorms and private rooms. |
Just so you're aware, the Est Village is not an especially quiet neighborhood. It has tons of restaurants and clubs, trendy shops open until midnight and while most is quite pleasant, there ar still some streets you might not be comfortable walking alone late at night.
Separately, New York is not a quiet city. Unless you're on a high floor of a high rise hotel you will get a fair amount of street noise in most rooms (unless facing the back of the building) - including commercial trash collection in the middle of the night (which is required by the city). |
Agreeing with previous posts:
>not a lot of b & b's period >not many options of any kind in the east village >the city is noisy except in newer buildings with sound proof windows The only b & b's I know in the east village are East Village Bed & Coffee and Second Home on Second. Both have shared baths as far as I know. I don't know what you'd consider affordable, but the Washingtonsquarehotel.com in the central village is a good option. In the west village, abingdonguesthouse.com, west-eleventh.com and greenwichvillagehome.com |
agreeing with what was said above... a "decently priced" B&B is the Inn on 23rd. Not in the East Village but a short subway ride (F,V to Broadway/Lafayatte), taxi, or walk (25 min, depending on area) away.
