NYC - Pre/Post theater dinner?

Hello,

DD and I are doing a girls over night in NY weekend of 12/11. We arrive Saturday and will do much window shopping that afternoon. We have tix for Lion King that night and depart Sunday to visit the Woodbury Commons outlets. Any suggestions for good/ reasonably priced dinner either pre or post theater in the area of the Minskoff theater (1515 Broadway)? She leans toward trendy, I'm more interested in a good meal. Though she is the night owl, I am leaning toward post-theater as we'll probably have a late lunch and will likely want a slight rest between window shopping and theater.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Ellie

Trattoria Trecolori was good. We liked Carmine's too if you're up for huge portions.

One thing I will suggest is not to eat in the theatre district or Times Square since you are interested in good food.

Point taken DebitNM - thanks. We can expand dining options to Midtown east as we are likely staying at the W or the Helmsley NY.

Thx

Or head a little more west to 9th Ave/Hell's Kitchen. Look on menupages.com - restaurant listings include menus, rec's, and links to NY Mag reviews. IMO, Hell's Kitchen is more trendy than Midtown East...

I'll be having a post theatre dinner at Marseille mid december. the other place i people were recomending, which seems more IN is the lamb's club

Tricolore and Carmine's are convenient but run of the mill Italian food.

You are right by the Times Square subway stop and there is a whole world of excellent restaurants south of there on every line that stops at that station.

My favorite in Hells Kitchen is Vnyl...and if it's too crowded and you don't want to wait, Uncle Nicks (greek food) is right across the street. One tip for Woodbury Commons is to join their VIP club (no charge) and print out a coupon for a coupon book in advance.

I was going to suggest Marseille as well. I used to love Vnyl, but my last few visits there have left me less impressed. Still love the decor, but the food wasn't what it used to be. Film Center Cafe is another good option...

Ooooh, I am liking the menus for Marseille and Uncle Nick's - thanks for the tips.

Aduchamp, acknowledge your point on the subway, but as it will be late wanted to stay close to center.

MP, thanks for the tip on the WC VIP club. DD will enjoy window shopping on Saturday, but is likely to try to inflict some Christmas present damage at the outlets!

Thanks again to all for your help!

Ellie
