Barry, when I go to that theater I usually go to Victor's Cafe which is just next door, but it's Cuban food. Don't know if your granddaughter would be that adventurous :) Look at the menu here www.victorcafe.com
There are a lot of Italian restos in the area. Caffe Cielo on 8th 52-53 is good. One of my favorite Thai places, Siam Inn, is on 8th betw. 51-52. Nothing fancy, just a basic neighborhood place but good food and very nice people. Have the curry puffs. Finally, I'll mention that Mars 2112, a themed Martian rest. is on B'way & 51st. I haven't been but reports are the food isn't great but it is designed for kids and tourists. There's a simulated space ship ride (before the meal). She might think you're cool to take her there. Not sure if it's more for younger kids though. |
The website for Victors Cafe is www.victorscafe.com Sorry for the typo

If she like's Chinese, Ruby Foo's on Broadway between 49th and 50th is usually dependable. While there are plenty of better spots for Chinese, that one is convienient.

How about John's Pizzeria on 260 W. 44th St. (Bdwy.-Eighth Ave.), 212-391-7560. It's not too close but in case the little one is not flexible when it comes to food. They serve I think the best brick oven pizza in NY and also other entree options. The location used to be a church they have kept the cathedral high ceilngs along with the lighting making the environment every pleasant to the eye. Here's an article I came across:
