NYC-Philadelphia-Wash DC trip- help needed!

I am trying to put together a trip for our family along the East Coast the week before Easter. We'd fly into NYC and stay for a few days then head down towards Gettysburgh, Philadelphia and then to DC. We'd probably rent a car to take Amtrack for part of the trip.

I need help! NYC with four kids? We'll probably hit the highlights (MOMA and Nat history for kids. shopping for me). My husband has spnt a lot of time in the city. That's not the part I'm worried about! I need help with all the bits befoew we hit DC. And advice regarding lodging, food or route would be great. thank you.

Your posting is shy of details. You say you're spending a week along the east coast and then mention four destinations--New York, Gettysburg, Philadelphia and Washington. That's a lot of territory to cover in a week! How many days in each? Are you just passing through Gettsburg (with a brief drive around)? More details please.

I'm sort of with Howard, Highledge. What exactly do you need help with? NYC with 4 kids how old? Do you need hotel recos for NYC? Do you need things to do in NYC?

In one week, you're doing 4 locations, 2 being major cities???

If it weren't for Gettysburgh, I'd say take the train from place to place.

agree with the others - we need more info. It sounds like you're saying the trip is a week - but perhaps you mean it starts the week before easter and extends afterward.

If you mean the trip is 7 days you have:

Day 1 Arrive in NYC
Day 2 NYC
Day 3 NYC to Phil via Gettyburgh
Day 4 Phil
Day 5 Phil to DC
Day 6 DC
Day 7 Return home

As you can see, this really won;t work.

Please clarify: length of trip, time in each place, ages/genders and interests of kids - then we can help.

If it were my trip, I would do Philadelphia before Gettysburg. Gettysburg is approximately 2 hours west of Philadelphia and a little out of the way for a one-week trip. But you could spend a night or two in Philadelphia and then stop for an afternoon or an overnight in Gettysburg.
