NYC on July 4
We are thinking of heading into NYC from Boston on July 3 to see fireworks and some sites. We have two kids, ages 7 & 9. Are we crazy to make the trip for fireworks?

Not at all! There will a giant Tall Ships event on the river that day. And Macy's, the fireworks' sponsor, promises a fireworks show twice the size as normal! This will probably be the most event-filled July 4th in NYC since the Bicentennial in 1976!

Howard, Thanks for the reply. We've visited the city before and taken the subway though not at night. Is the subway safe at night following such an event such as the fireworks display? Thanks.

The subway should be fine on the "4th" since the whole city (lol) will be riding.

There are supposed to be alot of viewing sites this year, East River, Hudson River and the Harbour so you have your choice. We will be at 34th
St and the FDR, one of the best viewing spots.

It will be crowded, but the 4th is always fun.

Have a good time.

tweedy

Assuming you'll be staying in the midtown area, I'll agree with Tweedy that the subways should be safe that night. But, just like any other time in another other city, just be careful!
