NYC not to miss Vegetarian foods/restaurants,etc.

We would appreciate suggestions for not to miss vegetarian foods and
restaurants in NYC. Also any information on street fairs/markets or other
things to do May 1-4. Many thanks.

Tiffin Wallah on the corner of Lexington & 28th Street for home style Indian - a good mix of South Indian as well as other regions. Not an upscale place but food is great!

Vegetarian Dumpling House in Chinatown

Hangawi for upscale vegetarian Korean. Great food, decor & service for very good & unique food - several types of root vegetables - mountain roots of various kinds mushrooms, as well as a wide variety of vegs.

Dirt Candy - great veg spot for non-Asian veg stuff. http://www.dirtcandynyc.com/

Tsampa - Tibetian food.

Some upscale restaurants like Devi, Tabla, Per Se ( I haven't been yet), Café Boulud and Gramercy Tavern offer excellent Veg Tasting Menus. Not sure whether Gramercy and Aureole still offer one... but they were excellent when they had them.
