Fourfortravel, just caught your TR on your NYC visit and really enjoyed it. We're headed to NYC, one of our fav cities, in early December to enjoy the Christmas festivities. I think we picked up on our TR from Central Europe that you're heading to Krakow for the holidays. Have a wonderful time!

The last time we stayed for a slightly longer period we borrowed a flat from friends, thank you T&D! This time we've rented a place via Sabbatical Homes. I rent my place near UC Berkeley to academics when we go away and I try to find something similar when we travel. Predictably there are lots of places in the summer when people are out of town.

sf7307, that's what I suspected. :( I'm trying to pack light for the February trip and really don't want to bring much in addition to a parka and boots. Plus, I'll have two teenage girls with me (DD and her best friend) who 1) have no idea how to pack light; and 2) have already started plotting their shopping and will need extra space.

panecott, the February trip will be very different! DD's best friend has never visited the US before, so I'm letting the two of them, more or less, plan the itinerary.
