NYC: Milburn or Millenium Hilton

Hi everyone,

I’m traveling to NYC with my family (fiancé and 8 yr old) from May 19-23. Right now I have a room (2 double beds) booked at the Milburn, but I found a junior suite at the Millennium Hilton for roughly the same price. Although we like the idea of being in the Upper West Side, we’re considering the Millennium for the extra space even though the neighborhood may not be as kid friendly. Although it looks a little farther away from some of the things we want to do/see, there seems to be a few subway stops nearby.

Could anyone tell me which hotel is nicer or if there is anything else that we should consider?

Thank you!

The Millenium Hilton is just fine, it's next to the 9/11 memorial and close to subway.

I really like the Upper West Side and I really like the Milburn. I'm seeing about the same size jr suite for $250 a night there, if you do advance purchase/no cancellation. It's probably a little early to be comfortable doing that.

Im not familiar with the Millennium, but have stayed at the Milburn several times and like it very much. Close to the subway and lots of take out delis/markets if you prefer to eat in.

Right now or at least last TG, the Milburn and that corner is completely covered under some type of construction. Don't know what is happening. Maybe someone from the area will tell.

Good point. The Milburn was sold last year and is undergoing renovations. If you decide on the Milburn you should call and ask about ongoing construction in May.

You seem set on these 2 hotels, but you may want to check the Affinia hotels in NYC. The Fifty NYC hotel of theirs has a two queen bed studio suite with a nice full kitchen (which would allow you to make breakfasts at least) for $257 a night advance purchase, or a large 2 queen room for $229. They offer bikes and a daily wine hr also, and other nice amenities.
