NYC Larger Newsstands-Where?

Okay, I'm familiar with the ones on the street corners, but I want to go to one that is larger, (not a Barnes and Noble) one that has papers and magazines from all over. Anyone know where there are some or how I could find out? I have both the Knopf and Fodor's City guides and nothing there or on the web. Thank you. I'm leaving tomorrow night.

Try the one in Grand Central Station. Also, there are magazine stores throughout Manhattan. I've often stopped at the one on Seventh Avenue across from Lincoln Center.

Portia, Howard's suggestion of Grand Central is excellant. There are several in the station, the newest and largest is directly east of the main concourse. Also there is a large newsstand on the ground floor of the Met Life building which is directly up the escalator from the main concourse of Grand Central. When you get to the top of the escalator, go through the revolving doors and it's on the right.

I don't know the name of it but there is a place on 8th avenue between W. 57 and W. 58. that has newspapers and magazines from all over the world - and by the way, just like B&N you can sit down and read all day without buying anything.

Portia, hope this is not too late, but my favorite Newstand is called Universal News & Cafe at 484 Broadway, between Broome and Grand down in Soho. They have so many magazines and great foreign magazines. I highly recommend them. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful. Under a green awning. Subway stop at Prince St on the N & R line.
