NYC: Large sz women's clothes?
We will be staying at the W on Lexington Ave for a few days. Can anyone recommend clothing shops which sell clothes for larger sized women?
Anyone know if Macy's or Bloomingdales or another department store have a good selection?
Are summer clothes out yet?

Spring/summer is definitely out. Bloomingdales has bathing suits in their windows! Both Macy's and Bloomies offer visitor's 11% discount if you register with their service desk first. Saks also has a women's dept.(called Salon Z) and there are a number of national chain stores like Avenue and Lane Bryant that also carry larger sizes. You may also find some nice things at Syms discount store. They have one on 54 st b/w Park & Madison which isn't far from your hotel.

What price point are you looking at. Macy's has a huge women's department but it is mostly basic leading a little to moderate. Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale's are more moderate - and may even have a little in some of the designer areas.

To be honest -- NYC is terrible for larger sized women's clothing. I lived there for most of my life and I always had a problem. I do remember Macy's having a nice line -- New York Woman? And there is a Lane Bryant somwhere in town -- but you can get that anywhere. Sorry.

I know there's one on Amsterdam - I thnk in the 70's but don;t remember exactly.
NYC isn't great for larger sizes - since New Yorkers as a group are thinner than folks in other parts of the country (I guess it's all that walking) and larger sizes are not so common.
