NYC Labor Day Weekend events

Three of us will be driving into NYC Labor Day Weekend. We'll arrive about 2 PM Saturday and leave about 2 PM Monday. Do any native NYers suggest any events during this 48-hour period?

There is usually an outdoor art show in/around Washington Square Park (local artists display their work for sale on the streets) that's fun to browse & the area is nice for people watching, shopping & eating. There may be a free concert at Chelsea Piers (on the Hudson).

Be aware there's evidently a 10k race planned for that weekend (I think Sat) in lower Manhattan so streets may be closed to traffic downtown.

On Mon, Labor Day, there's a street fair on 3rd ave bewteen 34th-42 sts. so traffic will be blocked.

Just found this website which has this info & more.

Thanks to you both! If The Producers were on the tail end of jtp's post, I would have done that for sure! And thanks for the heads-up about traffic.

Incidentally, I heard that The Producers' producers are trying to get Lane and sidekick Matthew Broderick to reprise their roles. Anybody have the skinny on that development?

The word is that they are both returning to the Producers, but tickets won't go on sale until the contract negotiations (and salary negotiations) are set in stone. I personally plan to RUN to the theatre as soon as tickets are available - I missed them last time around - but even so, I'm not sure I'll be able to get anything before their run is fully sold out! I really don't think there's any hope of getting any tickets on Ticketmaster, etc. but you can always try.

Oh, and they're supposed to be returning New Year's Eve for at least three months.
