NYC Itinerary
 

Hi,

We will be spending 1 night and 2 days in NYC.
We are flying into JFK and will arive at 6:00 am. We will be staying at the Windsor Hotel on 108 Forsyth Street.

Can someone tell me what the best way to get from JFK to the hotel would be?

Does "best" mean fastest (car service or taxi), cheapest (subway) or something in between?

Down there, I'd take a taxi. It will cost $45 plus tip for around $55 or so. You should NOT have to pay a toll to go to Forsyth Street since you can take one of the East River bridges that does not have a toll (ask the taxi driver to take the Williamsburg Bridge, which comes into Manhattan right by the hotel). Just be sure to hustle out to the taxi line as soon as you clear customs because you'll be hitting the crush of the morning rush hour; this trip will likely take at least an hour because of traffic. Happily, it's an unmetered ride.

I think we are going to prefer to take the subway. We hopefully will be utilizing it to see some of the sites while we are there so I was thinking about buying a pass.

By public transportation to 108 Forsyth St:

Take the AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica Station.

At Jamaica Station, take the Manhattan-bound J train to Delancey St/Essex St.

From there it is a five-minute walk to your hotel.

The actual trip with connections should take about 1 hour 15 minutes. There are other routes that might be slightly quicker, but you would be required to transfers from one subway to another, which can get pretty annoying with luggage.

By the way, the AirTrain fare is not covered by an unlimited-ride MetroCard (subway and bus pass). You will have to put some money ($5 per person per ride) on a regular MetroCard to pay the AirTrain fare.
