NYC in the RAIN?!
My friend and I will be in Manhattan tomorrow and it is supposed to RAIN all day! We have matinee show tickets for afternoon, but obviously, doing a lot of outdoor stuff won't work! Any recommendations for good INDOOR things? We're taking the train over from NJ Penn Station.

Well there is always musuem mile on 5th Ave.:
104th St. El Museo del Barrio 103rd St. Museum of the City of New York 92nd St. The Jewish Museum 91st St. Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution 89th St. National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts 88th St. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum 86th St. Neue Galerie New York 83rd St. Goethe-Institut New York/German Cultural Center 82nd St. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Not to mention, the Museum of Natural History :S- |
There are dozens of Museums from the world famous -
The Met - the greatest cultural institution in the western hemisphere to the arcane The Museum of Sex (if you're broad minded) The main branch of th epublic library - near the theater district - usually has very good exhibits. MoMA is also right nearby. And there's always shopping. Do you have any special interest - so people can reco someting specific? |
You're coming into NYC Penn station on 34 st. and the theaters are in the 40's-50's so all of the museums listed are pretty far uptown. MOMA
moma.org however is very conveniently located on west 53 st. The new Museum of Art & Design at Columbus Circle is another idea. http://madmuseum.org/Default.aspx |
Get thee to a museumery!
If you like art, the Frick is a sweet museum and you could cover it in the a.m. if you get there at opening time. If you love art, you might want to stay longer. |
Thanks for the suggestions. We're thinking the Natural History would be a good one. We'll be heading out in a few minutes! :-) Fortunately, we have Broadway tickets for a matinee in th afternoon.
