NYC in november

My friend and i are headed to NY for the hotel show at the javitts. our usual place, the doubletree at times square is booked. we need to be on the bus route for the convention so we are limited in our options of places to stay.

The following are the only hotels with rooms left on the convention web site:

Holiday Inn Martinque, 32nd and broadway
holiday Inn midtown w57th
intercontinental Barclay e 48th

any feed back? trip advisor seems to lean towards the Barclay.... any comments greatly appreciated

Of those choices, the Barclay is probably head and shoulders above the others. The Intercontinental chain is a very nice one and I've stayed at the Barclay and experienced good service, a lovely lobby and a well-appointed room. The bathroom was quite small, but it was still very nice. Understand, that the Barclay is much further than the others from the Javits Center because it is on the east side.

The Barclay is miles better than the others. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by being on the bus route to the Javits Center though. You can get to the Javits center from any hotel in Manhattan using some combination of public transport.

The bus that goes east on 42 st would pass right in front of the Grand Hyatt for example, and end at the Javits Center. The Holiday Inn on west 57th is no where near that bus, so I'm confused. Perhaps these are just the hotels offering a discount for the show?

The HI Martinique is the closest to the JC but is the least desirable of the 3 and the area near the JC is a bit of no man's land.

Here's a bus map.

Besides the Hyatt, there are dozens of other hotels that would be convenient to this bus. Post back if you need more info.

fyi for future use of this board, you'd probably get more answers if you select
"New York" as the destination when you post a question, so when someone looks for post on New York it would come up. Also, a title of Hotel near the Javits CCenter would be a better one for your questions. Good luck!

thanx so much for replies, i suspected i'd hear that about the barclay after reading trip advisor, just as an aside, the convention has a special bus running just for the attendees of the hotel show. so it is a free bus but only has about 5 stops in the city. so we wanted to stay fairly close to one of those stops.

last time we were in for the show we taught ourselves a little about the great (and not to leave out inexpensive) bus transportion around the city. from times sq to battery park for i think 1.25? can't beat it. again thanx for your detailed help.

um, the bus (and subway) fares have gone up considerably since you were last here. $2/ride ;)
