looking for hotel saturday april 24th. is it possible to find something decent in midtown for less than $200

Yes. try www.quikbook.com Hudson is available for $169, Fashion 26 is $179, Radio City Apartments is $148 and there are others. All of these are pre-tax.

I had reserved the Portland Square for $189, then got the Marriott Marquis on Priceline for $174.

www.hotwire.com offers a 3.5 star and a 3 star hotel, both for $169. If you use wwww.betterbidding.com, you have a chance to identify the hotels.

A lot depends on how many people will be in the room, btw. Hotel tax adds 15% to these prices so if you really want to stay below $200, you need a room for ~ $170. For 2 people, it's not impossible. For more than that, probably not.

There's a 4* hotel in midtown east on Hotwire for $167 that's either the Hyatt or the Intercontinental. That's for 2 people. I'd guess if you bid on Priceline 4* midtown east you could win one of those for less. If you're more than 2, you can check on Hotwire.
