Looking for great hotel room April 9, Sat. for 1 night. Great hotel for a great price. Any suggestions? Want to spend under $200.00.

Type "NYC hotels" and you will probably get 500 threads on this very topic. No use reinventing the wheel.

I absolutely second MikeT's suggestion.

That said, some answers from you will help anyone who has suggestions to make:

* What do you consider "great" in a hotel room?
* Where in the city do you want to be?
* How many people does the room have to sleep?

And finally, www.quikbook.com, www.hotrooms.com, www.priceline.com and www.hotwire.com in addition to the hotel web sites that you find doing a search of this site.

What do you consider "great"? If you're asking for luxury - you're not going to get that for $200 - or even close.

The City is very busy this spring and hotels are full/rates high. Rates for a standard business class hotel (Hilton or Hyatt etc) are in the $300 range. Luxury hotels will probably be in exess of $400 - unless you do Priceline. Assuming its for two people - that's the way I would go.

I can't imagine any hotel that is available for a Saturday night in about three weeks from now that I'd call GREAT if it goes for under $200. Maybe your definition of great is different from mine. I would be using a term like "clean and acceptable" for that price.

Your best bet might be Priceline where at least you will get a better hotel for the money, and since you don't seem particular on exact area or hotel, that may be the best bet if there are just two of you.

Take a look at Quikbook.com or Express-res.com. Both have good service for booking hotels in NY. I found (what I would consider) a very good hotel for spring in NY - The Blakely @ 55th and 6th for $229. There were quite a few others for less, but I wanted a room with a sitting area and micro/fridge convenience so spent the extra few dollars.

I agree with Patrick. This is a really busy time. It's always hard to get a Sat. night only reservation. I would not hold out much hope for ANYTHING decent.

That said, here are a few thoughts since you havne't specified location

1)try looking on travelzool.com and see if they list any weekend specials. They have something for the Drake Swissotel for weekend nights only but not sure it's good in April.

2)Check the nice hotels in the financial district like the Ritz Carlton Battery Park or the Millenium Hilton. It's quiet down there on weekends and they sometimes need to fill rooms.

3)hotelclub.net has the Excelsior, the Warwick and the Affinia Dumont for $200 or less (plus tax I'd guess). I don't think any of these are "great" hotels but they're all nice hotels. No personal experience with that website but it seems fine.
