NYC hotel with 3 kids??

Looking for a hotel that will accomodate 5. 2 adults and three kids ages 9/10/and 11. Would prefer one room with 2 queen or doubles and a sleeper. Could even swing a king and a double sleeper. Having a hard time finding anyone who can accommodate 5. Were are going Aug 1-4. Would prefer to spend under $350/night. Any suggestions?

Try any of the Affina Suites hotel or the Doubletree Suites in Times Square.

I would PHONE Affinia. On their website they have a 1 bedroom suite at the Shelburne Murray Hill that fits your budget but it's non-cancelable and only has 1 bed and 1 sofabed. They do have some rooms with 2 beds and a sofabed. When I look on quikbook.com there are lots of Affinia options for 4 people but not for 5. Very often when the 5th is a child, they'll make allowances.

I would also phone the San Carlos. They have a rate of $309 on venere.com for a "quadruple deluxe" for 2 adults and 2 children under 12. They might be able to fit an rollaway bed in that room.

The Residence Inn has a studio suite with king bed and sofabed for $309/night (found thru kayak.com on reservetravel.com) I would phone the hotel about whether they'll take 5.

Murray Hill East Suites (not as nice as the above places) has a 1 bedroom with 2 double beds and a sofabed for $309/night on orbitz (found with a search on kayak.com)

I was going to recommend Murray Hill East suites. These units used to be 1-bedroom apartments, so they have a real bedroom and separate living room, as well as a kitchen equipped with basic dishes and cooking equipment, which can make travel with youngsters so much more civilized. It's in a residential neighborhood that's a bit off the tourist beaten path, but we considered this an advantage.

The Travel Inn on W. 42nd would work. My cousin and her family stayed there (3 kids too) and thought it was a great bargin. The hotel has free parking for guests and there is a pool as well, nice for August.

Suggest you contact the hotels you're interested in by phone. Many web sites will not allow you to reserve for more than 4 per room - but if you explain that 3 are small children they may make an exception.

Only they know exactly what the accommodations are - if a roll-away will fit - and how much they'll charge for the extra person. (Travel Inn for one won;t let you reserve for more than 4 for your dates.)
