I have never heard of that place, and it looks terrific! You'll be so happy you're in the city and not spending your time commuting. Have fun!

Actually, I don't know anyone who's stayed there, so I'm very interested in your trip report, or at least your review of this place.

The block on which the Inn is located has a few bars. When you stroll south on Second Avenue (the general direction to reach Blue Men), many restaurants and shops begin to appear at 12th St and continue all the way downtown to Houston. Lots of places to eat and shop, most very reasonably priced and even cheap, many different kinds of ethnic cuisines.

Your teens would probably enjoy the shops along St Marks Place (8th St ) between Second and Third Avenues. Tere are lots of little shops on side streets in the neighborhood, but I know you will be spending a lot of your time exploring the main well-known attractions in other neighborhoods.

Venieros is certainly good, but I prefer the old-time atmosphere at DiRobertis across the way on First Avenue between 10th and 11th.

If you want to understand a little bit about the history of the neighborhood, you can pause and read the panels mounted on the fence of St Marks in the Bowerie Church between 10th and 11th.

How cool! I'm so excited (and relieved!) I've jotted the notes for Veniers, shopping interests & history etc. I love thrift stores too. woohoo! I'll definately put an update on here after our experience to let every1 know how it went & about the hotel/B&B.

For restaurant ideas, go to menupages.com, and filter for e. village to get some restaurant ideas. there are many good deals, for all kinds of food in that area.

Well we have completed our NYC trip & have ret'd today. I'm happy to report that the hotel Second Home on 2nd Ave was GREAT! The new owner was very accommodating & the rooms were spacious and well kept. Highly recommend! The only neg comments would be the noise from what we believe to be the pub downstairs. Also the comings & goings of anyone in the hallway. But for the rooms, price, cleanliness - not really a prob! Also Venieros was wonderful as well as the Blue Men! We only got lost on the subway once going between Times Sq, China Town, Central park, etc. ! So a great trip & glad we stayed in NYC like everyone said we would be! Thanks all!!!!!
