NYC HOTEL NEEDED

Will soon travel to NYC for a weekend getaway and am searching for a nice, safe midtown hotel for two between $120-$140 per night. Many good internet rates -- just not familiar with the choices provided. I've been considering the Amsterdam Court, Radisson Lexington, Plaza Fifty, or Hudson or Paramount -- Ian Schrager. Not interested in so-called "European boutique hotels" -- would like standard amenities of a four or five star hotel and a cheaper rate. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Katie

Hi Katie, you should certainly be able to book a hotel for $120-$140 per night in Midtown. Did you look at quickbook.com to compare rates? Is Priceline an option for you? I "won" Hudson on Priceline for $95. I love Schrager properties, but some find the rooms too small. Take a look at citysearch.com for hotel reviews - might help narrow things down a bit.

I have stayed in NYC many times. I always use Priceline. Haven't had a bad hotel once.

Look at www.biddingfortravel.com before bidding on Priceline.

I WOULD TRY PRICELINE AS WELL, BUT TRY SOHO, OR LOWER EAST SIDE, CENTRAL PARK... MAKES MORE INTERESTING AND NOT SO CROWDED!
HAVE FUN AND SHOPPPPP!!!!

I go to NYC about 4 times a year and each time I stay at the Belvedere. It's quite a find on 48th street between 8th and 9th aves. Great hotel, great service, and a fantastic location. 2 blocks from Times Square, right in the theatre district.
