NYC-Hotel help near Park Ave.
Hello,
First timer here...I am going to a show at the Park Street Armory next month and given it's a PM show, don't want to have to travel home. I really just need a place to sleep as I will be heading home in AM. I have looked online and the usual travel sites and understand NYC hotels are $$$. Are there options for hotels nearby that won't be so expensive?? Thanks in advance! |
According to Google Maps, the Park Avenue Armory is on Park Avenue between 66th & 67th.
You should probably give your EXACT date and how much you want to spend. |
The upper east side doesn't have a ton of hotels and many near that area are quite upscale.
Agree that you need to provide a date and a budget. You might do better to get a hotel on the west side and just walk - or take the bus - across the park afterward. You don't give a time for the show but I assume it won't end very late (after 1 am or so). |
I've stayed at the Bentley several years ago and found it decent and not too terribly expensive. But I'm not at all sure if that fits your budget because as vjp says, we don't know your dates, or what you consider $$$. Prices vary a LOT by date, in NYC, so its pretty hard to suggest without at least a general idea.

That's not the most hotel laden area in Manhattan.
If you're comfortable being in one of Priceline's zones (UES=1st-5th Aves, 62nd-96th Sts; CPS=3rd-10th Aves, 55th-62nd Sts; Midtown E=42nd-54th Sts, 1st-5th Aves), you could bid on a room. Read betterbidding and/or biddingfortravel if you haven't used Priceline before. |
There's a Marriott Courtyard on 92nd and 1st Ave., and it's often not as expensive as other hotels on the Upper East Side. But it's still going to cost $250.
You don't say where you live, but you could stay at the Country Inn & Suites in Long Island City, which would be about a $20 cab ride from the armory and might cost well under $200 per night. It's good for a night's rest. Frankly, any hotel in Long Island City might save you more than $100 per night and be about a $20 cab ride from the Armory. So I'd look there. Those are typically the cheapest convenient NYC hotel rooms. If you don't mind sharing a bath, you could get a small shared-bath room at the Pod 51 Hotel, which is just a few blocks from the Armory. |
June is expensive in hotels. An exact date and what you'd like to pay would help us help you. Short of that, the Affinia Gardens is considered a moderate hotel and close to the armory.

Hello,
Thanks for the replies! We will be in NYC overnight the 18th to see a show at the Park Ave. Armory and was looking for an overnight sleep before heading home the next AM (vs. taking trains home/arriving after midnight) I've seen the responses and will have to look at suggestions as I have only been to NYC a few times in my life. |
If you provide a budget and dates people can be much more helpful.
The Courtyard on 92nd and 1st is lower priced than most but is still quite a walk (about a mile and a half) from the Armory. |
