NYC hotel
 

Traveling to NYC on business. Typically stay in a times square hotel. Not really interested in the tourist thing this visit. May come in one day early for A Raisen in the Sun if I can get tickets.

As a result, my hotel choices are different. I need to choose between:

-Ritz Carlton Central Park
-Essex House Central Park
-Four Seasons Pierre
-Fairmont Plaza
-Le Parker Meridien

Cost is only a about a $30 spread. Have not stayed at any of these in NY. Based on web reviews, leaning toward Ritz or Essex.

Check out the Inter-Continental Central Park South. Make sure that you get a room 14th floor or above with spectacular views overlooking Central Park. It has a small understated lobby and all the rooms have been refurbished in the past few years.

My choices in this order:

Four Seasons Pierre
Ritz-Carlton Central Park South
Essex House Central Park
The Plaza (only upper floor suite)
Le Parker Meridian (only upper floor suite)

As I research reviews, there appears to be two Essex Houses.

St. Regis and Westin

Is this correct?

I am booking through corporate travel and have only these five to choose from after narrowing down the list. InterContinental was not on the original list.

There is a St. Regis and the St. Regis Essex House. Both are Starwood Hotels which also run the Ws and the Westin hotels.

The Essex House is a Westin and it features a St. Regis on the top floors. The St. Regis is just a St. Regis.

Not only is this a business trip, but my birthday as well. Although I will be working hard in the day, I want complete relaxation in the evening. I'm then going to Tavern on the Green for dinner if I can get a reservation third week in June.

Have now narrowed it down to the Ritz, Pierre, or Westin Essex. Have to make my decision within the next 48 hours.

If you can get a park view room, I would opt for the Pierre. Service can be spotty and they can be snooty, but it is a great location.

Also, if you've never been to Tavern on the Green, it can be a delightful experience.It can also feel like a cattle drive at feeding time. Keep in mind, there are dozens of better eating choices in Manhattan.

Both Ritz Carlton and Four Season was booked. Reservation is at Westin Essex. Will post a brief trip report when I return.

Since it is business, will likely cab it from LGA to the hotel. What should I expect to pay? 30-40 bucks. What other options do I have for a quick route? Will arrive close to noon. Need to drop off luggage, may grab lunch, and then head into the office.
