NYC food recommendations.

Ideas on restaurant choices wanted - here is info needed

Pizza, pasta, vegetarian
Frugal ideas
Area of Times Square to 42nd and 10th
Not foodies

We like to spend our time and money on shows and museums, but ya gotta eat...

Last night we ate at pizza suprema and liked that.

Sorry for the brevity. I don't type well on the screen.

We will also be in the Nat. History Museum and Frick areas

I like www.menupages.com for finding restaurants by location, price, type of cuisine and for reading reviews and menus.

At the Museum of Natural History, eat at Shake Shack, which is catercorner on Columbus.

At the Frick, there's nothing nearby, but Pastrami Queen is on Lexington at 78th Street. There's also Lexington Candy Shop at 83rd, and it has an old-fashioned lunchonette but can be incredibly busy on weekends.

For pizza near Times Square, try John's on 44th. There are a lot of good restaurants in Hell's Kitchen (west of Times Square in the 40s and 50s), many places very resaonably priced. Vegetarians can often do well at Italian restaurants, where you can get pasta without meat.

Thanks for the tips.

Is johns on 44th the same chain as johns in little Italy? We went to it on the real ny tour a couple of years ago and liked it.

Related question .. Is Hell's Kitchen renamed to something else sometimes? I looked for it in one set of listings and there was nothing. I feel like I read that it had a different name, but I could be confusing it with another area.

Some are calling Hell's Kitchen "Clinton."
Vegetarian : Blossom, 9th Ave and W. 20 or 21st in West Chelsea.

John's on 44th Street is owned by the same people as John's on Bleecker Street. But it's not a chain.

It is not fine dining but it is fun and filling.

Auduchamp had a good list of inexpensive places to eat in areas you list, and he posted it several times Maybe try to retrieve his list. I found it very valuable on several trips.

thanks for all of the great ideas. We are now on our way home. I am glad that it is so easy to reference old lines because all this will be easy to check next time we go.
