NYC dog-friendly hotel?
I'm invited to a wedding in September that will be a block off the 28th St metro station (28th St and 5th Ave). I don't know where to begin looking for a hotel. We need it to accept dogs and not cost a fortune ($400 after taxes and fees is a fortune)! Any suggestions?
We're only going to be in the hotel to sleep so we don't need anything special just not in a dangerous area since we'll have an infant with us. |
I would check the Kimpton hotels. Lucky for you dangerous areas with hotels are few and far between. Nobody here recommends dangerous areas.
ps. NYC doesn't have a Metro, it has the subway |
I stayed at the Kimpton Eventi hotel on 6th Ave. & 30th Street over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. They are a pet friendly hotel. I can't say what the room rate would be when you plan to be there, but I got a deal at $219 per night through a one day sale the hotel posted on their facebook page.
Here is the hotel's website: http://www.eventihotel.com/4-star-ne...dly-hotel.html |
Try any Kimpton hotel. They are very pet friendly.

Most hotels that accept dogs don't allow you to leave the dog in the room unattended and only accept dogs under 25 pounds. There are a lot of dog-friendly hotels in NYC, but most of them are upscale and by September may cost in the $300 range at best.
However, you are in luck in that there are several places in that part of Manhattan that offer daycare for pets. It's not cheap, but it's an option for you. There's a place called Ritzy Canine at 40th/3rd Avenue that offers care 7 days a week, but only until 7pm (I think you can pay extra for later pick-up sometimes. If it's an afternoon wedding, you'll be set. It will cost you about $40. There's another place near 33rd/3rd Avenue that offers daycare except on Sundays but only until 7pm called Walter's Pet Styles. I have taken my dog to both of these places and can recommend them. There are a surprising number of doggie daycare facilities in Manhattan, and the going price for a one-off visit is going to be similar, but I can't make any other specific recommendations. Kimpton Hotels generally allow pets, and 70 Park (at 38th St) sometimes has decent rates under $300 per night, so I'd check there. But there are some other Kimpton Hotels in the area, including the Eventi (which is closer to where you're going to be but also usually more expensive). |
You guys are the best!! Thanks! I had never even heard of the Kimpton hotels. I usually just look for La Quinta when we travel with the pooch.

I agree with the Kimpton hotels.
There's a La Quinta in Manhattan (and I've stayed there and I like it) but it may be one of the few LQs that do not accept pets. |
Yep, here's the LQ but no pets -
