NYC distance from Iridium Jazz club to Roosevelt Hotel

Oops sorry, forgot to post this under New York, here goes again.
This is for you New York experts out there. I will be in NYC for the first time ever in May. We are going to the Iridium Jazz Club on Broadway and 51St. and staying at the Roosevelt Hotel on Madison and 45 St. I have looked at several maps on the net and they are very illusive to me. Is it reasonable for 2 women to walk from one to the other (especially being that it will be in the evening) or is it advisable to cab it? Do cabbies get irritated with short distant rides? We will tip him well if it is a short distance.
Thank you.

It's not a real long walk but if there are two of you, then why not take a cab and split the fare? Cab drivers in New York can't legally refuse you, I don't think -- unless they have good reason (you are carrying a machine gun, for instance).

Thank you Tandoori Girl. Would it be safe to say that the walking time would be less than 20 minutes? And, is it actually safe for 2 women to walk in the evening. What I would like to do is walk to the Iridium (catching an 8:00 pm show) and cab it back to the hotel.

Yes, the map can be deceiving if you haven't been to NYC before. The city looks huge while in reality it is very manageable! The distance you describe is a short walk, and one that I would feel comfortable walking in the evening hours. It is a well lit area and you will have a lot of company walking those streets both before and after a show. Enjoy your trip!

Very safe. It's about six blocks across (I'm guessing here) and six blocks north. I'd guess you could do it under 20 minutes.

Distance is about 3/4's of a mile - a less than 20 minute walk. I would walk both ways but if you are not comfortable doing that walk to, cab back. The taxi would cost about
$5 with a tip

You've gotten good advice. The club is between 1/2 and 3/4 of a mile from your hotel and it's a safe walk at 8 p.m.

Thank you all for your input. Sorry I did not respond sooner, have been down and out with the flu. You have put my concerns to rest.
