OK. Here was my experience today. Got in line at 7:45. I counted that I was # 50. Sure enough. I got wristband # 50. I returned just before noon, still not sure which line to do, but they kept calling for South Pacific matinee only and by the time they got to #50, there were only 8 people in line ahead of me, so I was the ninth. Most people were getting in the evening line. I got a single for $20 -- 6th row orchestra. Side section but just three off the aisle. It was a great seat. LOVED the show.

By the way, there were quite a lot of empty seats in the loge (balcony), so I'm guessing everyone got a ticket. But I don't know that for a fact. Some people were lining up to buy tickets for $20 and didn't have wristbands. They attendants were saying that if there were still tickets they could do that.

At my Tuesday night show, the venue for South Pacific was 2/3 full. I have a feeling that the venues do not release all unsold tickets to the discount booth; but only a predetermined amount of less desirable seats (the side sections).

Well, I will say that all the sections of "better" seats were certainly filled. So I don't think there would be any "better seats" available for the discount booths -- notice the plural as TKTS gets tickets also -- and sells them for 40% off face value.

Do you get to choose your seat when buying from TKTS? Or do you just take whatever they hand to you?

Patrick, are you planning to see anything else @ the Lincoln Center complex?

At TKTS, you get to choose what tickets you want from what's available there.

Yk, I'm seeing Carmen at The Met on Feb. 9th. And I may go to a Philharmonic dress rehearsal on Feb. 10.

UNBELIEVABLE!

For tomorrow, Jan 22 Friday, they are offering discounted tickets for Simon Boccanegra at the Met!

This show was my sole reason for going to NYC this past weekend, to see Placido Domingo sing. It was completely sold out for opening night, so I find it hard to believe his name alone isn't big enough to sell out all the rest of the performances!

I wish I were still in NYC, as I would definitely go see it again tomorrow!

yk, I noticed that also. If only I didn't already have a ticket tonight for West Side Story. . .
Incidentally, there are FOUR different choices available tonight at that $20 booth on LC.

Testing the system Part 1 - Arrived later than I wanted (about 8:10??) so I am bracelet 132. I can think of reasons to go to ANY of the 4 including South Pacific which I have seen but do love - next piece - finding company that may sway the decision in one way or another ( also perhaps some of the 4 will be gone by my turn.) - more later

P.S. Regarding the opera @ the Met, I guess it depends on which seats they're offering. If they are selling Family Circle seats all the way at the top or the Balcony side boxes w/obstructed views, it's not that good of a deal because those tickets are normally $20 during the week, and I believe $26 on Fri/Sat.

I'm baack -- OK - by #40, the only ballet seats were in the 4th ring - by 60 - the opera seats were gone -- high school friend and I were willing to do SP although we'd both seen it but there were still seats for the 9:30 Jazz performance in the Allen Room (smaller hall that I haven't been in) so that's where I'm at 9:30 -- I've only been to Dizzy's Club which I love and I've been curious about the other places.

For the record, I was out by 1 and they only gave out bands to 150 -- there was a small line waiting with no bands and I don't know how well they'll do.

After this ends on the 26th, the Atrium will open 8 weekdays, 9 weekends and the Box OFFice won't start selling anything til noon 25 or 50 percent off.

For the record (all done by feet, subway and buses)-- I left East 90th after 7AM -- after getting band I went home via Trader Joes and the Greenmarket

Had a bit of a snack before leaving shortly after 11 - Stopped at Urban Books - MAJOR sale as the Municipal Arts society is moving from the Veillard Houses )best buy = everything you ever wanted to know about the houses for a $1 - bought 4 other NYC books at 40 percent off - met a 7th cousin of THE Olmsted (as in Frederick Law) who sent me some great articles about Manhattan Bridges and the Subway) - Got back to Lincoln Center 12:05 - Went home via a trunk show of a favorite store of mine in Hartford - Japanal;ia - www.Japanalia.com and I've been home for about an hour! Time to rest up for later.

Enjoy the Jazz performance tonight!

I wonder if they will continue to do the bracelet thing after the $20 for 20 days promo ends?

I think the bracelet thing is over then and it's show up and stand in line or at least that's how it was explained to me.

OK - So we went to the 9:30 show at the Allen Room - It was a mix of percussion oriented jazz music (there was also a pianist, guitar , and bass player. Also, dance - modern and tap, spoken word, gospel - and all of the above numbers.

I'd never been to this venue - it's small and well banked - I think - at the top you have a better view of the Park, CP South and 5th ave and you are above the sound system which is nice.

The program was good fun, interesting, etc but no one performer stood out as really great.

I like the space and would head back again - also - there were performances at Dizzy's and in the Rose auditorium and maybe even the Penthouse so the "joint was jumping" so to speak. Fascinating audience as well.

There was a $20 special at the cafe at Alice Tully Hall but since they had no performance that night, the kitchen closed at 8 and we were really rushed.

I do like that space though for a drink or dessert or whatever. It's a great addition to the landscape.

The $20 deal ended today for the Lincoln Center discount booth. However, discounted tickets will continue be sold on day-of performance, at 25-50% off. They will no longer give out bracelets in the AM, so it will be a first-come-first-serve when the ticket window opens at 12noon.

What I wonder if there will be a BIGGER inventory for each show, given that the discounts is less now. Also, I don't know if they will still send out an email each day alerting people of which shows have discounted tickets, or will they offer discounted tickets to ALL non-sold out shows?

------------------------------
As an aside, one can still enjoy $20 tickets a different way - at off-broadway shows until Feb 7, 2010. $20 per ticket, sold at 20 minutes before the show starts. Details here:
http://www.20at20.com/

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS!

For TWO WEEKS ONLY, from Monday, January 25 through Sunday, February 7, tickets for all 20at20 shows are only $20, starting 20 minutes before show time. Just go to the box office of the show you want to see 20 minutes before it begins and say, “20at20” and you’ll get your ticket to a real New York theater experience!

Any new updates after the $20 for 20 is over?

I'm curious to know

1) if they offer discounted tickets to all shows that day; or only selected performances?

2) If only selected performances, when do you find out what's available and at what discounts? Do they have a board like TKTS booth that lists which shows they're selling tickets for?

3) How are the lines now that there are no more bracelets given out?
