NYC: Dance clubs for 35+ crowd- Help Please
Looking for dance club where my husband and I won't feel out of place. Rock music and top 40s from 1980s to now. Has anyone been to Webster Hall? Feedback please. Any other suggestions?

Thanks much.

Hi Kat,

Webster Hall attracts a pretty young crowd, but definitely go if you want, you'll be fine. Dress young and have a blast.
|
The perfect spot for you is:

Decade
1117 1st Ave.
(@ 61st St.)
Upper East Side
212-835-5979

It's a very classy nightclub that caters to the, ahem, more mature crowd that still likes to shake a tail feather (as my mother says). I'd avoid Webster Hall. You'll love Decade.
Once every month there's a dance party at Roseland on 52nd near Broadway. It's called the Rhthym Review - info is available at www.classicsoul.com

It's a huge upbeat party that features funk, soul, dance and R&B music from the 60's through the 80's. Draws a broad spectrum of people but predominately folks from mid 30's to mid 50's (so I am told - I have not been). Have been told that it's a blast.

Thanks for responding.

Owen - I took your advice on Roger Smith Hotel. I'll definitely checkout website info on Roseland dance party.

Ted - Decade sounds like a definite possiblity - and thanks for being "delicate" regarding the mature crowd thing. At this point in my life, I'm not sure what age mature starts at.

Any other suggestions out there?

Kat - I think mature might be that point in life where one begins to accept life on life's terms and really starts having fun (I am so grateful to be getting there!).

I should mention that when I say huge re/the Roseland party I mean about 4,000 people - not a typo. If you don't mind big crowds I'm sure it's fun (I plan to go soon but not sure if I'll get up the nerve to dance).
