NYC/Courtyard by Marriott Midtown East

Hi.
I´ve booked a double bed room at Courtyard by Marriott Midtown East located a 3rd Avenue.Me and my family (Wife and daughter) will be lodged from January 10th to 14th.

Any comments in regards to this accomodation?

Regards,
Ramón

I liked it just fine. Tiny lobby, friendly staff, handy location. IIRC, there's an Au Bon Pain across the street. Make sure that you have booked a room with two beds or a bed and a sofabed. "Double bed" can mean one smallish (double-sized) bed.

Yes, we stayed there last summer ('06) and thought it was great. The room was quite large, especially by NY standards, but big enough to include a king-size bed and a sofa-bed without having to turn sideways to walk in-between them. The staff was uniformly friendly. There's a very small lobby, but who cares. There's a self-serve laundry --- you pay for the washer & dryer, but they give you the detergent for free at the front desk. The bed is very comfortable. The subway is right outside. There's plenty of places to wander and eat in the neighborhood. We would stay there again.

I stayed there a few years ago, just for a night before moving to a friend's place. Although I was solo, I was given a huge-by-NYC standards corner room. Tiny lobby, friendly staff, convenient location, as the above posters have noted. It's not a glamour hotel, but I was perfectly satisfied--even pleased.

Have a great trip.

Stayed there and needed 2 beds + a rollaway - and all fit fine - VERY unusual for a NYC room! Staff was great; and we would definitely stay there again - the only caveat I would have? It is a few blocks further away from many of the tourist attractions than some other Marriott properties - so you will either walk more or spend more in cabs. This was offset for us by a less crowded/noisy location, the ease of getting a cab when we needed one, and the price/size of the room.

I just booked it also for four nights Oct 18 for my family with two small boys. It had the best rates I could find $377. and the expedia and fodors reviews were good.

Monk, where did you get that rate? The rate on the Marriott website is $436. (Maybe you got the last room at the good rate!)

I have AAA and checked that box and got the $377 rate. I think a single AAA membership is only $45. I had to sign up when I needed my passport renewed in one week last spring and they got it done!

Monk, I'm already a AAA member, in fact, getting a decent rate at the Residence Inn Times Square for Thanksgiving. I thought I had checked that box when I checked the rate, but maybe not.

I live in this neighborhood. It's great-you are near the E,V, and 6 subway lines and can get anywhere from there. The Au Bon Pain is gone. There are pharmacies downstairs and a Houston's a block up plus plenty of other places around. I haven't been to the hotel as I don't need to stay at one but it's a good location so don't worry!
