NYC Comedy Clubs

We will be in NYC in May and would love to go to a comedy club, but don't know anything about them. Any advice?? Thanks in advance!

Comedy is like music, it is personal. There are those who like Carrot Top and those who like Louis Black.

Here is Time Out listing for comedy clubs. Check it out for which clubs have your sensibility and then who is in town when you are in town.

Thanks, I checked it out and it was very helpful!! Good point, comedy IS personal for sure.
I've seen that some have "cover charge and two drink minimum" and some look like you buy tickets and I'm presuming it is a theatre setting, just a show. Looks like some are "dinner and a show". First time to NYC - so it's all new to me.

Cover and minimum usually depend on whether someone is known or not. You should also consider The Upright Citizens Brigade.

Rule of thumb. If there is food and a show one or both usually suffer. East some where else and then see what you like.
