NYC Clubs
We come to NYC at least once a year and sometimes more often. We are planning another trip in October of this year. Does anyone have any suggestions for a club for the 50-60 year crowd to go to in midtown? Crowded, noisy, loud are all okay, but with people our age. Thanks.

Maybe not a club the way you mean, but Swing 46 is one idea. But there aren't really any clubs in Manhattan that cater to an older crowd.

I wouldn;t worry so much about the age of the patrons - but about the type of music you want to hear. If you pick based on that you'll probably get a mixed group and be perfectly comfortable and enjoy it. (If there are some 20 somethings that enjoy jazz or golden oldies - how will that affect your enjoyment?)

Do you like to listen to great Jazz? If so come on uptown to St. Nicks Pub. Great Jazz, some Jazz legends, some celeb spotting (saw Danny Glover in there one night), the place is locals and tourists and you will most definately feel welcome.
Take the A train to 145th ST, and walk up to 149th and St. Nicholas and it is right on the corner. |
You might want to look into a piano bar? But the little bars that are often 'holes in the walls' are too fun! Often bigger hotels have great bar area's that you may enjoy.
Here's a link for your research: http://www.nyctourist.com Have fun, and don't let your age stop you from any bar area that looks fun. My mom of 74, hangs with me and my girlfriends all the time, and often she is the one, that's on the dance floor for hours! |
