NYC cheese restaurant

I remember watching a food show that highlighted a fine New York City restaurant specializing in fromage. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

I'd guess it was Artisan. It's in midtown and we had a great dining experience there. It is a French bistro-type restaurant with lovely fondues and french onion soup and an extensive cheese plate menu. Also has a notable wine-by-the-glass selection.

It sounds like Artisanal to me.

murrays in the village is better

FYI: Murray's is not a restaurant, it is a cheese shop (with a branch in Grand Central Station). But it is the best cheese shop in the city for both price and selection, IMHO.

Artisanal.

It's quite wonderful--the gougere are out of this world--and is rather reasonably priced.

Mmmmm. . . gougere

Keep in mind that a cheese course has become something of a fad in most of the upscale New York restaurants, so you'll find excellent cheese plates at just about all the top French and Italian restaurants and some of the top American restaurants (I'm thinking of places like Grammercy Tavern, Jean George, Ilo, etc.).
