NYC Casual Spot to Watch the Oscars

We are two couples (early 50's) in New York City midtown the evening of the Oscars on Sunday, March 7th. We are looking for a casual (not expensive fundraiser) place to watch the Oscar's, have a drink or two and enjoy some good food. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I would check out both the Events section of New York Magazine and Time OUt New York. (I've never heard of a place that does this - but I suppose you can find anything in New York).

I was thinking maybe a hotel bar or a venue of that type that might offer something for that night. I will check it out, thanks!

I am with NYTraveler, I have never seen a place that has an Oscar event. This is NY, Oscars are LA.
Obies and Tonys are NY.

In previous years, Joe's Pub, Comix and West Bank Cafe were some places that held Oscar viewing parties. Haven't seen any lists of places for this year yet.

Really? You think the Oscars are just a LA thing? I think you are quite mistaken. I don't know if any "events", but I am virtually certain that there will be many places in NYC that will show the Oscars ... in addition to the official viewing parties that are held all over town (and not open to just regular folks).

FYI: Here are a few links about some Oscar parties around town.

This one is from the Daily News last year (http://tinyurl.com/yjfe52d). My guess is that in a couple of weeks you'll find similar articles about parties here.

And the official City of New York party is at Lincoln Center, but it's a fundraiser, so it's very expensive (starting at $150 per ticket).

I guess I hang out the with wrong crowd. I never see any Oscar parties and I live in bar central. I will look.

To be truthful, we do not have many friends and relatives involved in the theatre. I guess I personalized the answer, so I will keep an eye out but I see all sorts of events for the Tonys and I know the Obies are important.

Thank you guys...I will watch those publications closer to the date. I really appreciate it!
