NYC--Broadway musical or Blue Man?
 

We are planning to try our luck at the Tkts booth for a show next Tues. night. We are already seeing Lion King and Phantom. Depending on what is available, what would you choose for our family: Music Man, Kiss Me Kate, Annie Get Your Gun, or Blue Man Group? Kids are 18, 16, 13, and 10. If only one choice is available it will be easy--what if all are on sale for that night? Thanks for your opinions.

Any of the four are good. Kiss Me Kate is the best of the four, but, ironically, it may be the least likely one to please the kids! And, on a Tuesday night, you might find a wide choice at TKTS.

Can';t believe I'm writing this..but with that age group...go see Blue Man..it is a visual experience and the teens will love it..The others are rehash and Lion King no matter what age will mesmerize them.. and Phantom will give them the experience of "theatre"..

Blue man would be great. I've seen the others and I think younger people would be completely bored. However, consider AIDA. I almost think it's better than Lion King. The music is great and it's visually stunning.

I also vote for Blue Man - great show and will be a nice change from "another" Broadway show.

It's a possibility but not a certainty. On a Tues-Thurs you stand a better chance than on weekend nights.

I hadn't thought about it, but I second the idea of Aida. I believe that not only will it introduce the kids to true theatre, but even classic opera as well (at least the story) and it is indeed stunning and spectacular. The story is easy and wouldn't all the kids love the Elton John music? A couple of the big numbers even border on "rock concert". I may be in the minority of opinion here but I feel that while young kids and adults both love Lion King, teens tend to feel it is too "childish". At least a number of teens I have talked with thought so. Not true of Aida.

You and tne kids will have more fun at Blue Man.

You mostly likley will not be able to get tickets to Aida at the TktsBooth. If you can't get into that or Blue Man Group, I would suggest Annie Get Your Gun. It would be most appealing to your age range of viewers.
