NYC- Best day for a Broadway musical play?

Hello:
Next July we are staying at NYC for 5 nights, but our stay will be divided. We are being at NY on Friday, Saturday (2), Sunday and Monday nights.
Which of these nights would be more advisable, considering the possibility of obtaining better prices and more tickets available?
Any recomendation regarding to the play is also being welcome .

No surprise, Friday & Saturday evenings tend to sell-out first. I seem to have good luck with matinees and week nights.

Enjoy!

Your best chance for good tickets is for a Monday night. However, the tradeoff is that there are not that many shows to choose from on Mondays.
Sunday performances are your next best choice.
As far as what to see, that's hard to answer without knowing something about your taste in shows.

Oh, thanks. So I will concentrate on Monday and Sunday night, we are not picky about the show, because we live in a city where there is so little offer as regards to plays that almost anything would do... (well, without too many dialogue, my husband speaks little English)

Most theaters are dark on Sun nights - matinees only.

I should've clarified. Sun closings depend on certaom weekends, so just double check with particular theaters.

Try "certain" weekends. (It is Mon isn't it.)

Go to Broadwaybox.com and use the "Find discount for your selected dates" box. That way you'll have all the shows on the days you're considering laid out for you. to

Let's try this again. Fri and Sat. nights are most popular. If you're looking for discounted tickets, they're hardest to get for a Sat. night show. Most shows have a Sat. matinee at 2 pm. Some shows have a Sun. matinee at 3 while some have both a matinee (at 1) and an evening performance at 7 pm. Many shows have NO performance on Monday, but some do.

Many thanks.
I guess I would try on Monday (let see what we will be able to get), we are not very fond of matinees, especially because we prefer to dedicate all daylight to wander around NY... (we are going to be firsttimers, you know).

Here's a recent post on shows that have performances on Mondays
