NYC at Easter with Teenagers
Can anyone recommend a moderately priced place to stay in NYC. Looking to go at Easter, will be 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Would like to stay somewhere central where we can walk to the theater and shopping. Any suggestions helpful

What do you consider moderate - 200? 300? 400? And are you looking for two rooms - or for some sort of suite that can room 5 people?
One midrange group you might try is affinia.com - a group of all suite hotels that generally gets good reviews. Not sure what they will be charging at easter - which usually has higher rates. |
everything i found so far is 2 rooms, best i can do so far is $300 - $400 for two rooms. Found availablilty at Super 8 motel near Times Square, know anything about it? Also, i am assuming it is a busy time, will i have a problem getting show tickets?

Whether you will have a problem getting show tickets will depend on which show(s) you want to see.

Easter time will be more expensive. You might want to try the Doubletree Metropolitan located at 51st and Lexington which is about a ten minute walk to the Theater District. I got an excellent rate, $156 a night for a weekend in April. If you are looking for a suite, try the Doubltree Guest Suites in Times Square. The Marriott Marquis has some king-bed rooms with a pull out sofa. They are corner rooms so they are pretty big with some fun views of Times Square.

The Super 8 is posted about here a lot, with generally very good reviews. Do a search and you should find more, but I'd definitely consider staying there on a future NYC trip, based on what I've read here.

found a place, milford plaza and made reservations, now looking for a show. Tentatively narrowed it down to two choices, Phantom of the Opera or The Producers, cant get tickets to Wicked our first choice. Any recommendations??

I'm not sure what you mean when you asked for recommendations, but I would recommend that you get your theater tickets now. Easter weekend is a very busy one in New York, and both shows you mention are likely to sell out for those performances.

We took teenagers to NYC at Easter several years ago - and everything was mobbed (well, more mobbed than usual!). The Blakely Hotel has some nice suites. They are about $300/night. But they will be VERY nice, not a dump like some cheaper places!

Anyone know anything about the St. James Theater where The Producers is showing. Debating about mezzanine vs. balcony seats, the latter is half price. Is there much difference? Is the mezzanine that much better to merit an extra $50 per seat?
