NYC Abstract Art

Hi! I am a bright, colorful abstract art lover and I'll be traveling to NYC in December. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations of "must see" galleries, art shops/stores, museums, hotels/bars with amazing art that you'd recommend I check out? Thanks!

I'm guessing that MoMA is already on your list. And take time to have lunch there as well.

The New Museum (at 235 Bowery in Manhattan) and PS1 (22-25 Jackson Ave. in Queens) might also be good choices.

The Whitney is another option

The Agnes Martin exhibit at the Guggenheim fits the bill.

SueNYC: I'm not getting bright and colorful from Agnes Martin at the Guggenheim.

Tuscan - I was focusing on abstract. For bright and colorful I'd do Welling Court street art.

The Carmen Herrera show at the Whitney fits your criteriaI, bright colorful and abstract. I was going to suggest Alda Thomas at the Studio Museum in Harlem but it ends Oct 31st.

MOMA obviously will have plenty to interest you.

I'd also recommend the Modern and Contemporary Galleries at The Met on the second floor in the very back, 920-925 They're full of Rothko, Ellsworth Kelly, De Kooning along with a huge Pollack. Sounds like it would suit!
