NYC-5th Ave stores busier on weekends?
This may seem like a silly question, but I've never been in NYC on a Sat. and Sun...I wonder, do the stores on 5th Avenue and others like Macy's and bloomies and the areas surrounding them become MORE CROWDED on saturdays and sundays or LESS busy. I realize it's all subjective, but in general. Thanks.

In my experience, Saturday can get busy too. Sunday is a safer bet if you want less people around you.

The earlier you go, the better! Except for Macy's, which attracts tourists in big numbers, the stores are not that crowded on Sundays. However, with Christmas approaching, the crowds will increase. <BR>If you go on Saturday morning, you'll definitely beat the crowds. And, the same goes for Sunday morning once the stores start opening early on that day because of the holidays.

If you're planning an upcoming shopping trip, see if you can find out what week (usually in January, I think) when sales tax is lifted.
