NYC 4th of July

We will be in NYC for the 4th of July. Didn't plan it that way it just worked out that the best hotel prices were over the 4th. Will the crowds be ridiculous and are there any areas to avoid. Not really interested in 4th of July activities.

The crowds will be ridiculous wherever the fireworks are. In recent years, the fireworks have moved back to the East River, so you'll want to avoid the Brooklyn Bridge area in the afternoon, but otherwise, most of the other areas where people gather are not that close to major tourist sites (one of the reasons the fireworks are on that side of Manhattan). However, if they move back to the west side, Times Square will be an absolute zoo. You won't know that until May or June, so just plan your trip. The city is otherwise not any busier than normal then, but the weather can be miserably hot and humid.

Thanks Doug. Coming from Orlando we have 5 months of miserably hot and humid so I'm used to it.
