NY theater January 2010
Is there a calendar somewhere that will show what will be on stage in January?
|
Not that I know of, mostly because shows can close at any time -- especially following the summer season. Shows can announce a closing 2 weeks before the last performance, so there's no way to tell what will or will not be open in January 2010. Of course, there are good bets as to what will be there(the sell outs-Billy Elliot, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Lion King) and there are guesses as to what will close, but things are always in flux.

Okay, I was kind of getting that clue, so thanks for the confirmation. Be patient and hope for the best, right?

You can check Playbill.com to see schedule for new shows coming in. Scroll down, look at column on the right, there is a heading like "inside info" and under that you can click to get schedule.
|
Also, on Playbill.com click on Broadway on the left and you will see a list of shows. They list many that are not on sale yet. By clicking on the show's name (whether an old show or one not on sale yet), you can read when it opens, when it's in previews, and whether it's a limited run or open (meaning it will run as long as it can). I learn a lot doing this and get to see what's coming down the pike.

January is the SLOW season -- except for the sellouts, there will be lots of shows at the Half Price booth
|
Thanks for the help to all of you. I'll keep a eye on playbill. Maybe we'll gamble on the half price booth as well. Part of the anticipation, right?
