NY theater district birthday dinner???
We are taking our mother to a show and dinner for her birthday. Can anyone recommend a good, fun, restaurant in or near the theater district? Thank you!

Which theater/location? Budget? Cuisine?
Also - there are about a hundred threads below about dinner in the theater district - you might try looking at some of those. |

You can go to www.chowhound.com, click on "cut to the chow" then scroll down to the map of the US, and click on NY, then click on Manhattan, and you get to a great restaurant guide.

Personally I think sending someone to Chowhound to look at that totally user unfriendly list of thousands of posts is pretty meaningless. It may be a good place for regulars to chat about their favorites, but it is overwhelming and meaningless to anyone who doesn't have a good idea of what they're looking for. For starters, you can go through dozens of posts talking about a place by name, but nowhere does anyone mention where it is or anything about price. In fact unless you an tell by its name you aren't even likely to find out what kind of food they serve unless you can figure it out by "reading between the lines". It is more likely to be a dozen people talking back and forth about the quality of a certain dish on their last visit, or if it's still as good since a specific chef left for another restaurant.

I can think of no better place to celebrate a birthday in the theater district than Chez Josephine. Owner and host Jean-Claude will assure a joyous evening.

Actually nankar reposted her request being more specific -- for seafood and near the Gershwin, so I think her request has been handled.
