NY Shows

HI

My daughter (16) and I will be in NY next week. We have seen many of the big names shows. Would appreciate recommendations for Broadway, off-Broadway and anything else. Thanks.

The Humans, off-Broadway is being buzzed as best play. It's wonderful acting.

Have you seen Fun Home? Or would the lesbian theme be too much?

Daddy Longlegs, a small off Broadway musical s delightful.

She Loves Me, just opening should be a wonderful musical.

What sort of shows do you like? There are so many options.

Thank you for the responses. Some great ideas that I will check out. We have seen Lion King and Phantom. I think she is a big old for Aladdin.

I was going to suggest Dear Evan Hansen, which is in previews at Second Stage after a sold-out run in D.C. It's a Pasek & Paul score whose story centers around teenagers. And if your daughter happens to be a fan of the Pitch Perfect films, Ben Platt is in the cast. If you're looking for something more like Lion King or Phantom, Evan Hansen wouldn't be a good fit as it's more of a intimate, emotional show. But it's another off Broadway option.

Echoing what NeoPatrick said above, though, I've heard really good things from people who've seen She Loves Me. (The words delightful and lovely came up a lot.) You might also enjoy Something Rotten, which while not ground-breaking, is a fun show with a great cast.
