NY Shows
Hi
My daughter and I will be in NY this weekend and need some show recommendations either on Broadway or off. We have already seen Wicked, Spiderman and Lion King. We are seeing Phantom of the Opera which we have seen before. Actually other entertainment suggestions would be welcome too. Thanks. |
Les Miz if you have never seen if - not sure of the status of last minute tickets
For other entertainment - how old is your daughter - and what do the two of you enjoy - types of music, etc. |
Thanks for your response. My daughter is 15.
We have been to the Metropolitan and Natural History museums. She is not a big museum goer. Although she enjoys photography. Like most teenage girls she enjoys shopping and we are planning a trip down to Soho. She also likes youtube and follows several of those people. |
How about Matilda? I loved it. Wickedly funny, great song and dance, amazing cast of young people.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A06-8IWjFSE I'm not sure if you could get tickets for this weekend, but have you seen Steve Cohen's Chamber Magic? I went to one of his shows and was chosen as a participant in one of the up close card tricks. To this day, I can't figure out how he did it....and I was holding the deck of cards! A wonderful evening. http://www.chambermagic.com/ |
Hi-Thanks for the magic show suggestion. I checked but his show is only Fridays and Saturdays. We will be in town Sat-Tuesday and are already going to Phantom Saturday night.

My favorite photographer has a gallery in Soho, 419 W Broadway. His pictures change with the light.

I had to google the address because it seemed familiar. I own a Peter Lik photo and his work is stunning!
|
She may like the International Center of Photography; it often has interesting exhibits.

It is Open House New York weekend ohny.org . Also, Sunday night the movie version of Guys and Dolls will be playing at the United Palace of Culture uptown. This will be a fun evening and it is near the Cloisters. For shows -- See On the Town or a Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder. On the Town is a great production of a great NYC show!
