Notes from the Left/West Coast:
With lots of furrowed brows,magnifier
eyeware and "ooooo.. remember tasting that one"?! as our mantra, M/M R5 have
made selections based on Kals'"ooooo"s and "ahahahah"s up the road (hint:
he was hosting a rock, paper, scissors
tournament at the time) and PamSF's favorite grape (hint:from the Russian River Valley) There was an abundance
of great choices and we may have to
keep repeating this cross country
sippin' exchange
ad infinitum....aaaaaahhhhhhh....
what a shame...
;-)

R5, I just can't wait!!!

We only have about 11-12 people confirmed. If we don't have 15-20, we'll have to move it to Margherita's in Hoboken, NJ. It will be an open seating vs. a reserved restaurant.

I'm going to make that decision on the 25th or 26th and will send out an e-mail to everyone with directions/change of venue.

We got two more attendees today. Yippee!!! We're getting there. Paula's will be great fun -- we'll have the place to ourselves.

Wines, limoncello, and lots of nice people!!

Who else wants to attend this historical event and taste some great wines?

Historical? This will be the First Annual NY/NJ/Yountville great wine transfer.

Send me an e-mail at [email protected]

R5-
The "Budmanfandel" better be stored in a very nice place and not in your and Mr. R's wine glasses!

Someone in NJ/NY better have a dig-cam!
We like to put faces with our wine-os!

Budman,
Thanks for the invite, but I'll have to pass. I've got two small children, a new house we're getting ready to move into, and barely enough free time as it is.

We're also leaving for vacation later that week.

But, thanks anyway.

BTW, my favorite dish at Margerita's in the Penne ala Vodka with Chicken. (I live 4 blocks away, at least for the next two months.)

WOW! The Yountville GTG goods have arrived. Some great stuff!!!

Looking forward to some wonderful tasting, toasting, and pictures.

If you are thinking of attending, please let me know so I can get an approximate head count to keep the restaurant open.

You will not be disappointed!!

Ryan, if you can find some time to stop by for a toast to your fellow Fodorites, you are more than welcomed.

Here's the latest & greatest!

We've got 13 confirmed, one maybe, one DH maybe, and I'm sure there are a few more lirking out there who will be attending, right?

I'm going to call Paula and confirm Paula at Rigotello's, 3706 Park Ave, Weehawken, NJ 07086. Here's a website: http://lavacity.com/food_paula.php

30 October, Noon until ???

There's no set menu, no buffet. Everyone orders and pays for his/her own so there are no hassles fumbling with funds. So, if you just want to eat light or some of Paula's pastas, everyone should feel comfortable.

The wonderful folks on the West Coast have contributed a couple of bottles of goodies which we will taste & toast and take pictures. In turn, they will taste & toast us at their Yountville GTG in November with some of my goodies. Pictures to follow.

Budman has a special selection of vintaged goodies that he will contribute. There will be limoncello!!

We also have someone flying in from South Africa just to attend this gala event!!! I'm looking forward to tasting her vintage Pinotage.

If you can't make it for lunch and would like to stop by for a glass of wine (and your picture taken), we would love to have you!! The restaurant will be opening up for lunch just for us!!

Drop me an email [email protected]

OK, here's the deal.

Talked with Paula today. We're set, and she is excited about hosting our group.

Place: Paula at Rigotello, 3706 Park Avenue, Weehawken, NJ. 201-422-9500.

Date: 30 October

Time: 12:00 Noon until ???

Lunch: Paula will set up a luncheon menu to suit everyone. Separate checks. (Don't forget to take care of your server.)

BYOB: Budman will bring several bottles of his whites/reds, plus a couple of bottles from the Yountville GTG wines to toast. Limoncello will be served.

Pictures: Taken before/during/after the luncheon to post on this site. Everyone will bring their face.

We've got this place to ourselves. If you're not yet committed and haven't rsvp'd and decide later this week to attend, feel free to just show up at any time. Be prepared to have your picture taken.
