NY hotels right smack in middle Times Square...
 

I'm taking my daughter to the city for her birthday Feb 20th weekend. Would like to stay in a hotel that would have a spectacular view of Times Square.
Any suggestions?

The Marriott Marquis, but I'm not sure how easy it is to get a room with a good view Times Square.

Hi. We've stayed in Times Square with our daughter. Hotels are pricey there but the view is really cool. We've stayed in the Doubletree Suites and request a view upon check in. I know the Marriot Marquis has rooms with great views. There's a Crowne Plaza in Times Square. They must have views must you should call to doublecheck that. Susan

I recently stayed at the Broadway Millenium, which is 1/2 block off Times Square. I liked it because (1) It was close to the center of the action - i.e. Times Square. (2) It was NOT on Times Square. Times Square is ALWAYS very well lit - and noisy and crowded on the weekends. Even being 1/2 block off Times Square I had to deal with the reflections off windows. (3) It was a nice hotel. Not luxurious, but very nice. Art deco style with decent sized rooms.

W Times Square is another option.

I'm not sure I'd recommend a room with a view of Times Square, although you can book them at the above-mentioned hotels for substantially higher rates.

There are so many places to enjoy views of Times Square (the Broadway Bar at the Marquis, for example), or just wandering about day and night on your way to and from your hotel.

Check out Hotwire for those dates. The 4-1/2* is probably the Renaissance and the 4* is probably the Millennium (we found the room a bit "worn", but otherwise our stay was just fine). (No guarantees.) I've always had great luck with Hotwire and usually there is an opportunity to upgrade to a "view" room for a few dollars more a night. Still a bargain, usually, compared to other booking resources.

I've stayed at the Millennium, Renaissance, Marquis, Crowne Plaza, and Doubletree. The Renaissance does not have rooms facing Times Square and most (if not all) the rooms at the Crowne Plaza are also blocked because it is a block north of the Square. I stayed at all but the Doubletree thru Priceline; if you don;t want to take that big a chance I also suggest Hotwire.

We had a wonderful view of Times Square in the Doubletree; we were up high enough that it wasn't noisy. I loved having a suite; ours was beautiful.

I've stayed at the Marriott Marquis quite a few times, usually at great discounts through their website. I always request a view room, preferably facing north and looking right up Broadway and 7th, and I've always gotten it -- never paid extra for that.

The best part of their view is that you have wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows with draperies that open back. Each "king" room has a sofa. We turn the sofa to face out and it's like a giant TV screen to sit and watch.

there is a hilton right smack on 42nd street next to the wax museum. there is also a brand new Westin on 43rd street. it is very tall so i'm sure the views are exactly what you are looking for.

Just got back from a stay at the Millennium. Not bad. Was on the 41st floor, with a great view. Good location. I wouldn't rate it 4 star, but it was fine, and I'd stay again.

While the Times Square Hilton may be right on 42nd Street, don't expect views of the big open part of Times Square from there. We had a room facing 42nd street way up at the TS Hilton, but basically you get a view of other buildings and can even see west to the river. But the bigger buildings totally block any view of the bright lights of Times Square itself. The Marriott Marquis is far better for that.

Westin or W hotels are both on Times Square. They are both Starwood hotels.

The Westin I know of is at the corner of 43rd and 8th Avenue, and runs to 42nd. It is not right on Times Square, nor does it have a view of it.
